Marlene grew up in Dresden, Germany and started her studies for education in German language and philosophy at TU Dresden in Fall 2019. She specialized in children’s and youth literature of the 20th century as well as gender studies. Beyond that, she developed a strong interest for German as a foreign and second language.

During her studies Marlene got offered the chance to work at CETI – a cluster of excellence at TU Dresden – where she was tasked with assistance in science mediation for children and young adults. Her main topics were digital development as well as the implications of the use of robots and AI in everyday life.

In order to finish her studies in German language and to gain a deeper understanding of language as a medium, Marlene joined the German Department at Georgetown University in August 2024.
