Katharina graduated with a BA in German Studies and English and American Studies from Technische Universität Dresden, Germany (TUD). As an undergraduate student, the European Union’s Erasmus+ Exchange Program allowed her to study at Technological University Dublin in Ireland for six months, while simultaneously teaching German conversation classes at Trinity College in Dublin.
After receiving her BA in 2021, she started pursuing a degree in European Languages, TUD’s MA program in comparative linguistics. During her time in Dresden, Katharina taught numerous tutorials in the English Department (English Linguistics) and in the German Department (Applied Linguistics, German as a Foreign Language). As one of two Graduate Exchange Visitors to the Ohio State University’s German Department in 2022/23, she spent a year in Dresden’s sister city Columbus, OH, where she taught two beginner-level German classes. Her passion for cultural exchange also led her to work at TUD’s International Office and at Goethe Institut Irland’s Culture Department in Dublin, Ireland.
Katharina’s main research interest is in Second Language Acquisition, with a focus on intercultural communication, technologically supported language learning, and theater pedagogy. In the field of Applied Linguistics, she is currently researching characteristics of computer-mediated communication.
