Mary Helen Dupree received her Ph.D. in German Literature from Columbia University in 2006. She was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Rice University for two years before accepting a position as Assistant Professor at Georgetown in 2008. She was promoted to Associate Professor in 2014. Her research interests include late-eighteenth and early-nineteenth-century German literature and culture, gender, performance studies, and theories of sound and the voice. Her current project is concentrated on the theory and practice of literary declamation in Germany from the mid-eighteenth century to the present.
