Marcus Winebrenner is a U.S. Army Aviation Officer and UH-60 Blackhawk pilot with over a decade of service. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida in 2016 and completed a Master’s in Emergency Management and Homeland Security at Arizona State University in 2024. Marcus has been selected to teach German at the United States Military Academy at West Point beginning in 2027 and is currently pursuing advanced study in German at Georgetown University.
At Georgetown, Marcus is particularly interested in the intersection of language, identity, and transatlantic civic culture. His research explores how German language education can foster cross-cultural understanding, democratic values, and public service across national and institutional boundaries. During his participation in the Army’s Cultural Understanding and Language Proficiency (CULP) program in Benin, he taught English to cadets at the Military Academy in Tofo. That experience strengthened his commitment to multilingualism, education, and global engagement. He aims to connect his military background with scholarly inquiry, contributing to conversations on leadership, intercultural competence, and the role of language in diplomacy and education.
