Looking Ahead to the Spring Semester

Prof. Kurt Beals (University of Richmond) will read from his new translation of Erich Maria Remarque’s Im Westen nichts Neues (All Quiet on the Western Front) and talk about the process of translation on February 19, 2025, at 12:00 pm. Leading up to the event, we will host a Filmabend with one of the film versions of the book.

On March 21, 2025, Prof. Carl Niekerk (University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana) will lead a workshop titled “Race, Enlightenment Anthropology, and Radical Thought.” This event is the second in a series on “Race and Enlightenment” organized by Prof. Mary Helen Dupree.
