PhD Graduate Emily Barthold Receives Postdoc Fellowship

Georgetown University German Department’s Emily Barthold, PhD (2019) has received a prestigious Max Kade Postdoc Fellowship for the academic year 2019-2020 from the Berlin Program for Advanced German and European Studies. Emily will revise her dissertation, “The Thirty Years’ War as Unifying Heritage: Historical Fiction, Ecumenism, and German Nation-Building (1871-1920),” for publication and begin a new book project on international comics tentatively titled “Germany at War: Comics and the Imagery of Brutality.”
