Alumni News
The German Department is happy and thankful to receive two endowments from alumni and their families.
Tanya Boland, née Konarkowski, (C’ 96) and her family endowed the Schröder-Boland Endowed Fellowship Fund in the Department of German within the College of Arts & Sciences. The fund is named in honor of Ms. Boland’s mother who was especially proud that her daughter was able to pursue university study and that she majored in German. The Fund will support the living and travel expenses of undergraduate and graduate students pursuing projects, research, and/or study abroad experiences related to the study of German culture, language, literature, and related fields.
This donation comes at the heels of another significant gift, the Weise Family Endowed Fund. Jill Weise and her family established the fund in memory of Peter Weise, who received his Ph.D. in 2004 after first completing his MAGES degree in the BMW Center for German and European Studies. The fund is in support of graduate education and will prioritize students who are pursuing the joint MA/Ph.D. degrees between the BMW Center and the German Department, as well as graduate research projects.
